Kofax Releases Kofax Capture V9.0
The latest update to the worlds finest scanning solution..
Kofax Capture 9.0

IRVINE, Calif., January 26, 2010 – Kofax plc (LSE: KFX), the leading provider of document driven business process automation solutions, today announced a new release of Kofax Capture. Version 9.0 incorporates new features that deliver more efficient deployment and administration capabilities to support enterprise wide installations and other benefits.

Version 9.0 allows users to automate the deployment and updating of the software, their applications and any customisations from a central server. Remote sites automatically receive these and updates as they become available. The new release also ensures high availability at remote sites through redundant licensing, which improves system reliability and ensures business continuity.

Kofax Capture 9.0 also includes the capability to update, modify and revise specific aspects of a document batch class while processing is already in progress. This reduces the potential for exceptions that might later require time consuming and costly manual steps to correct. Additionally, specific document types within a document batch can now be routed to specific operators for specialized handling, thus accelerating processing times while lowering operator training costs.

Updated to support Microsoft Windows 7.0, the new release also includes a Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI) that enables enterprise customers to seamlessly deploy Kofax Capture using their standard software management and delivery tools

Remote Site High Availability
Automatic fail over for remote site licensing.  Improves reliability and business continuity.

MSI Based Installer
Use either setup.exe installer or new .MSI based installer. Leverages industry standards and enables use of preferred deployment option

Report Viewer on Servers
Allows the use of Report Viewer on servers. Minimises configuration and deployment costs.

Batch Class Update
Update the batch class for current batches. Provides flexibility to correct issues found in production requiring batch class changes without rescanning the batch. Minimises operational costs

Windows 7 Support
Support for the latest Microsoft operating system

Document Routing
Custom module APIs to split a batch into sub-batches. Minimizes operational costs through operator specialization, and enables parallel processing of large batches.

Kofax Monitor Support
Kofax Monitor software provides real-time performance monitoring and metrics on the operational health of your capture system.

OpenText Release V8.8 of VIP DocManager
continued development and new features for Magellan / Gauss / OpenText customers.

January 21st 2010 Milton Keynes, England

OpenText has released version 8.8 of their popular VIP DocManager.  the following new features are incorporated.

Captaris Workflow Integration

In addition to the existing VIP WorkflowManager product, VIP DocManager can now optionally be integrated with Open Text’s Captaris Workflow. You can define workflows to start automatically when particular documents are captured into VIP DocManager. You can view related documents in the VIP ContentExplorer viewer directly from a Captaris Workflow instance and launch the Captaris Workflow Web client from VIP ContentExplorer (this gives you better performance when opening documents from Captaris Workflow). For information on exchanging existing VIP Workflow Manager licenses for Captaris Workflow licenses, please contact DMS4U.

Support for Tivoli Storage Manager Devices

Support for Tivoli Storage Manager Devices The VIP DocManager iSeries server now supports archiving documents and DocLink indexes to any storage device accessed through the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager.

DocLink Security on the iSeries Server

The VIP DocManager iSeries server now includes the ability to implement page level security based on the values of one or more of a report’s DocLink indexes. You can implement this new security for any or all report types. If DocLink security is on for a report, when a user performs a DocLink or OmniLink search of a report type, matches are listed in the hit list only if they meet the DocLink security conditions for that user..

Increased Maximum Capture File Size

You can now capture files up to 4 GB in size into VIP DocManager. In previous versions, the limit was 2 GB. On Windows and Unix VIP DocManager servers, the new limit applies to both report files and image files. On iSeries servers, it applies only to reports.

Drop-down Lists in DocLink Search Fields

All versions of the VIP DocManager Server (Windows, iSeries, and UNIX) now allow administrators to define a list of possible entry values for any DocLink index search. For example, for a department index, you could define a list of existing departments; the user would then select the department to search for instead of having to type it. You can define any list so users must select from it, or so they can either make a selection or type an entry not on the list.

E-mail Shortcut to a Document in VIP DocView

In addition to attaching an actual report or image file to a message generated in VIP DocView, you can now send a link to the desired report or image. The link is contained in a small attached XML file. When the recipient opens the attachment, the link is activated, the user is asked to log on to VIP DocView, and VIP DocView opens the target document.
